Jan – June 2023 Update

Has it really been six almost 6 months since I’ve had a chance to blog? Seems like yes.

I’m wincing. I’m cringing. I’m making all the faces. How could I let this happen? What was I thinking? You know, if I had a newsletter and only sent it when I had like, news, it would probably be the same. (Still working on that last one.)

Maybe when I tell you everything that I’ve completed/accomplished/been informed of you’ll see why it’s been hard for me to nail this blog thing down.

I know I’m not supposed to talk about writing (it’s kind of like Fight Club around here) but, seriously, that’s what I’ve been working on most. Here’s what’s been going on in no particular order:

  • I’ve been nominated for Best Of Madison for Local Author! Believe me when I say it’s an honor to be nominated. I find myself in a distinguished group of writers – one of whom I’ve even met in real life. (Psst – it was Maggie. She’s very nice)
  • I finished the rough draft of my third Dragonneer Book! Not only is it over 80k words, it actually comes in at a bit more than 85K words. I’ll have lots to work with when I get back to it. That’s right. It goes on the metaphorical shelf for the moment. I’ll come back to it in a while and there will be editing, beta readers, synopsis, and all kinds of fun stuff.
  • I also submitted a final draft of my werewolf/shifter sequel to the publisher last week! They have let me know they received it and will be reviewing it. Things are far from a done deal there, but fingers crossed.
  • This September, my first book, The Dragoneer will have been out for 3 years! Launching a book in the middle of a pandemic was not ideal, let me tell you. The book has about 30 reviews on Amazon. I’m pushing to get at least 50 before the anniversary of its publication. Toward that end, I have a few copies I’m willing to send out in exchange for an honest review. If you’re interested, give me a shout (or, you know, send an email) to authoramberb (@) gmail (.) com, and I’ll send you a copy until they are gone.
  • I think that’s it. Isn’t that enough? No? Well, I’ve been editing another novel in a new genre for me, but I keep calling it my timey-wimey romance as I hope to keep writing this summer and not slack off as in previous years, ahem.

And today is the last day of school! Woot. We’ve got most of our time accounted for through the end of August. Not even joking. As I write that, I can feel my left trapezius muscle seize up. Good thing I’ve been going to PT and rejoined my gym.

I hope to write again soon with more updates or, at least, keep you in the know about anything I’ve been working on. My crochet has been calling to me and I still hope to finish my rainbow afghan. It would be great if could finish it this month, but we’ll see.

Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
